The Genesee County Planning Board serves as the reviewing authority for local development projects and land use actions, as mandated by New York State General Municipal Law (GML). Municipal boards are required to refer certain planning actions to the County Planning Board for review before taking final action, as per GML Article B, Sections 239-m and 239-n. These laws help ensure local land use decisions consider broader countywide and inter-municipal impacts.
The County Planning Board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Large Conference Room at County Building 2, 3837 W. Main Street Rd., Batavia, NY. All submittals (also known as referrals) from local municipalities must be received by 4:30 PM on the first Thursday of the month to be included on the agenda. Late referrals or submissions directly from project sponsors will not be accepted.
