The help of volunteers makes it possible for the Genesee County Parks to provide excellent recreational and educational activities for citizens of Genesee County and beyond.

Become an ACORNS Member
Goals of ACORNS:
- Raise funds to support programs and activities through sponsorships, fundraisers, grants, and donations
- Assist environmental educators with programs and provide recreational opportunities to the general public, students, and community groups
- Seek training opportunities for members and staff
- Assist park staff in maintaining facilities, grounds, trails, and natural habitats
- Communicate and cooperate with members, other agencies and groups, and the public who have an interest in the Genesee County Parks
- Assist with promoting the Genesee County Parks and Interpretive Nature Center
Genesee County RSVP Volunteers monitor wildlife, keep invasive species at bay, assist with trail maintenance, construction, and all other aspects of volunteering at the Genesee County Parks. They welcome visitors and provide fun environmental education to youth, adults, and families. RSVP Volunteers are 55 and older, serving at one or more of the 25+ partner stations in Genesee County and helping to create the kind of community we all want to live in.
Interested in building your résumé and saving money toward your past, present, or future education while giving back to your community? SCA provides support and assistance to the park through the Environmental Education Assistant Internship position with Genesee County Park & Forest. SCA interns are ages 18 or over with a high school diploma or GED. The SCA's mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land.
What the SCA does:
- Protect, enhance, and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and urban green spaces across the United States
- Serve year-round in programs lasting anywhere from two weeks to twelve months
- Live and work in amazing places
- Make new friends and join a community of conservation-minded individuals
- Explore career options and make career connections
- Receive professional training and certifications
- Serve the planet and make an impact
- Receive a stipend, service hours, or academic credit
