The abstract of title, or search, for your property is not filed in our office. Please contact the attorney who represented you when you purchased the property.

Adoptions

Sealed and may only be opened upon Court Order.

Birth Certificates, Death Certificates & Marriage Certificates/Licenses

Available from the local town, village, or city clerk where the event occurred. See our complete list of Municipal Clerks or visit our Genealogy section for research purposes.

*Note: The State of New York did not mandate the filing of birth, death, and marriage records until 1880. Earlier records may vary by municipality and source.

DBA’s, Corporations, related forms

Divorces/Annulments/Separations

Matrimonial records are sealed and accessible only to involved parties or their attorneys. Photo ID is required for access.

Fines/Surcharges

Payment of fines must be made directly to the assessing court:

  • City of Batavia: Batavia City Court

  • Bergen Town: Bergen Town Justice Court

  • County Court ordered fines: Genesee County Probation Dept.

Surcharges ordered by Genesee County Court are paid at the County Clerk’s Office.

Hunting & Fishing Licenses

Available from town, village, or city clerks. Check the list of Municipal Clerks or local sporting goods stores.

Surveys

Surveys are typically maintained in personal or attorney files and not filed with our office.
